Tell us a little bit about yourself…I am a journalist, writer, editor, and pampas grass enthusiast. Most recently, I founded and was the editor-in-chief of the MENA-based publication, Scene Arabia, though a few months ago, I took a step back from full-time work to focus on some of the things I love. I wanted to give travel blogging a shot but ‘Miss Rona’ had other plans.
What are the 3 products you can’t live without?
- I definitely can’t live without some kind of chapstick or lip balm because my lips always look like I’m a mountain climber who’s just braved the elements. They are always, always chapped. It’s not their fault, I just bite them all the time.
- Conditioner for my hair. I don’t really have an actual hair routine but I always use a ton of conditioner when I shower.
- Lipstick! Any lipstick really. I recently realised that when I look very tired, lipstick is really helpful. I feel like it instantly elevates any look.
What does your night skincare routine consist of?
My nighttime skincare routine is- well, I don’t know if you can really call it that but I try to remember to always use rose water (I’m using Nefertari’s right now). I just pour it onto a cotton ball and sweep it across my face. Usually (hopefully) that will be preceded by some kind of face wash or cleanser (right now I’m using Uriage, Eau Thermale Cleansing Gel).
Sometimes, I’ll apply argan oil right before I sleep. I know it sounds really counterintuitive to slather such a thick oil on your face (especially if you have sensitive or acne-prone skin, which I do), but I feel like it’s actually been good for my skin even though it means I have to sleep with a towel on my pillow and my husband asking me why my face is so oily.
Do you have any tips to share with us for hair, skin, nails, or body care?
If you eat other people’s food, the calories don’t count.
What are your top 2 favourite local products from Source Beauty?
Out of the products I’ve tried so far, I really like the Areej, Vanilla Moisturising Body Cream. I just want to eat it. I love anything that smells like vanilla or coconut. I also really like the Essentials, Gold Eye Tint.
